I have been residing in calgary place appartments for more than 3 years in the west tower. At first i signed a 12 months lease agreement which epired in September 2008 and stayed on a months to month contract up till August 2010 which i signed a new 12 months agreement to lower the rent (As they refused to lower the rent eventhough all my friends who were renting in calgary downtown got a rent decrease from their respective managements without even asking for it). now i want to leave the bulding by the end of july 2011 since i already finished my 12 months period. For some reason management believes that the contract was meant to be for 12 months period from September 2010 (Basicly to match the same month of the original contract...!) intrestingly they want to consider me breaking the lease for not willing to stay for this two extra months...!!!
They are totaly unreasonable in their discussions and dont have any solid ground to stand above...
Of course i do not need to mention their terrible customer service, late, old pluming which always break down, slow and almost not working elevators , evry second day fire alarm and name any other thing you would think of for a terrible place to stay in.
Unfortunetly i do not like changes so it took me a very long time to finaly make the decesion to move out but i would like to put this information infront of any one who is considering to rent any of those appartments.
One more interesting thing all other buildings would paint the walls and replace the carpets if you rented the appartment for more than 2 years but in clgary place it is not done before 7 years.....!
